Splitter Functionality: It can split the combined power and data signal from a PoE-enabled Ethernet cable. The splitter separates the power component and delivers it to the CCTV camera, while the data component is sent to the camera for video and control signals.

Combiner Functionality: It can combine separate power and data sources into a single cable. This is less common in the context of CCTV systems, as PoE is often used to provide both power and data over a single cable. However, in some situations where PoE is not available, a combiner might be used to merge power and data from different sources into a single Ethernet cable for the IP camera.

Haydon CCTV IP/PoE Splitter/Combiner is a specialised device tailored for the needs of IP-based CCTV systems using PoE technology. It helps manage the distribution of power and data, ensuring that IP cameras receive the necessary power supply while maintaining the data connection for video transmission and control.

 Frequently Asked Questions

Q   Will The POE-MULTI work on any protocol of PoE.

A   yes, the POE-MULTI RX unit has a switch to give 2 PoE output wiring options.

(i  12\36     ii  45/78)

Q   Can I connect the POE-MULTI RX unit to 2 ports on an NVR and 2 cameras directly.

A    Yes, the multi can be connected directly to a multi-channel NVR, as long as the ports are PoE

enabled.

Q    Can I use the POE-MULTI with 1 camera or device connected

A     No, 2 devices need to be connected to ensure the POE-MULTI operates correctly.

Q    Can I use the POE-MULTI with a PoE switch on a CCTV system?

A     Yes, it is best if the NVR, Switch and Cameras are all the same brand. If different brands are

used, e.g. for the switch, this may cause cameras not to be recognised on the system.

Q   Is the POE-MULTI range, just plug and play

A    Yes in most cases, however, if using a PoE switch, please ensure the cameras are manually

addressed with IP addresses, and that the IP addresses are in the same range as the NVR.

Q     Can I use the POE-MULTI on a non PoE switch

A      No the switch needs to be PoE to power the cameras.

Q      Can the POE-MULTI be used outdoors.

A       The POE-MULTI-IP-F has an IP68 rated TX unit and is supplied with 3 waterproof boots, this

unit is suitable for external use.

Q      When using the POE-MULTI, no image from the camera is available, even after testing the

cameras individually with the NVR/Switch.

A       In some cases, with newer switches and recorders, the TX and RX units need to be

reversed. i.e. the TX unit with the PoE toggle switch needs to fitted to the cameras, the RX unit

needs to be plugged into the NVR/Switch. Once done, re power the system, and allow time for

the switch/NVR to register the POE MULTI, then refresh the screen.
